Madge Mostyn's Nieces
Meade, L. T. [pseudonym of Elizabeth Thomasina Meade Smith (1844-1914), a prolific writer of girls' stories. She was born in Bandon, County Cork, Ireland, daughter of Rev. R. T. Meade, of Nohoval, County Cork. She later moved to London, where she married Alfred Toulmin Smith in September 1879]. Illustrations by William Rainey.

Possibly first edition hard back binding in publisher's original over printed emerald green cloth covers with brown, blue and cream illustration of three girls riding horses to the spine, three girls to the front cover with one holding a tennis racquet. Thick 8vo. 7½'' x 5½''. This is the last L. T. Meade listed title of books (1916) preceded by 'The Daughter of a Soldier' (1915). Contains paper-guarded frontispiece, 399 with a further 7 full-page single-sided charming monochrome illustrations throughout by William Rainey. Light rubbing of the cloth to the spine ends and corners, prize plate inside dated 1919 and in Very Good condition, no dust wrapper. Member of the P.B.F.A.
