Joseph Cundall [Joseph Cundall (22 September 1818 Norwich - 10 January 1895 Wallington, London), was a Victorian English writer under the pseudonym of "Stephen Percy", a pioneer photographer and London publisher of children's books. He provided employment for many of the best artists of the day by using them as illustrators.

Illustrated engravings on wood from designs by Kenny Meadows are plentiful and complement wonderfully to the readability of the set. Extensive and scholarly notations, biographies and essays on the works in addition to a copy of Shakespeare's Will, and the most famous of the verses on Shakespeare including Milton's own first printed work. Fine quill name dated 1869 to the tip of each title page, light surface rubs to the corners and spine edges, gilt design to spines worn, paper clean and white with the odd spot to a couple of plates. A beautiful and impressive set. Member of the P.B.F.A.
