First edition hard back binding in publisher's original powder blue buckram covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine. 8vo. 9'' x 6''. Contains [xxv] 491 printed pages of text with two monochrome photographs. Surface stain to the bottom edge of the rear board, sun fading to the areas on the spine where the dust wrapper has pieces of paper missing. Good condition book in Good condition dust wrapper with internally repaired tears across the spine ends and corners, spine sun faded. Together with Lord Thomson, the Air Minister, Sefton Brancker was killed when the airship R101 crashed near Beauvais, France on 5 October 1930, during its maiden voyage to India. Includes original 4½'' x 6½'' monochrome photograph of Sefton Brancker at a charity fête in London holding an aeroplane and with signed contemporary inscription on the reverse by unknown 'Here is the photograph taken at your stall, with all good wishes to you and to the North and West London Branch', the reverse also has an indigo stamp from 'London News Agency Photos Ltd.' Sefton Brancker has SIGNED below his image on the photograph 'Sefton Brancker.' Dust wrapper supplied in archive acetate film protection, it does not adhere to the book or to the dust wrapper. Royal Flying Corps [R.F.C.] Club Letter Signed + Signed Trenchard Card Marshal of the Royal Air Force Hugh Montague Trenchard, 1st Viscount Trenchard Bt GCB OM GCVO DSO (3 February 1873 - 10 February 1956) was a British officer who was instrumental in establishing the Royal Air Force. He has been described as the Father of the Royal Air Force. + Lieutenant General Sir David Henderson KCB, KCVO, DSO, LLD (11 August 1862 - 17 August 1921) (Book #ID 86848) 12th February 1917. 1917. 9'' x 7'' double page Royal Flying Corps Club headed letter / flyer dated 12th February, 1917 SIGNED by 'Lieutenant General Sir David Henderson' Chairman of the Committee, the reverse of the letter giving details about the club and its fees. Henderson was the senior leader of British military aviation during World War I, having previously established himself as the leading authority on tactical intelligence in the British Army. He served as the commander of the Royal Flying Corps in the field during the first year of World War I and was instrumental in establishing the Royal Air Force as an independent service. After the war Henderson was the first Director-General of the League of Red Cross Societies. Included with the letter is a SIGNED card by Viscount Trenchard 'Trenchard - Marshal of the R.A.F.'
