Contains frontispiece, 51 pp; frontispiece, 56 + (2)pp; frontispiece, 60 pp. Tipped to the front free end paper is a SIGNED and dated 17th January, 1944, typed letter-headed and embossed stamp from Alfred Denville J.P., M.P. from his private residence in Harrow which is addressed to William Whitehead, Theatre Royal, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Obviously a descendent of the first play 'The Roman Father'. Denville was elected as the Member of Parliament for Newcastle upon Tyne Central seat from Sir Charles Trevelyan in the 1931 general election. An actor by trade, he ran one of the UK's leading repertory companies and in 1924 founded Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors in Northwood, London that is still in operation.
