Skorzeny | The Most Dangerous Man in Europe Whiting, Charles [Otto Skorzeny (12 June 1908 - 5 July 1975) was an Austrian-born SS-Obersturmbannführer (lieutenant colonel) in the Waffen-SS during World War II]. (Book #ID 97384) Published by Leo Cooper an imprint of Pen & Sword Books Limited, 47 Church Street, Barnsley, South Yorkshire First English Edition 1998. 1998. First edition hard back binding in publisher's original scarlet covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine. 8vo. 9'' x 5½''. During the war Skorzeny was involved in a string of operations, including the removal of Hungarian Regent Miklós Horthy from power and the rescue mission that freed the deposed Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from captivity. Skorzeny led Operation Greif, in which German soldiers infiltrated enemy lines using their opponents' languages, uniforms, and customs. For this he was charged at the Dachau Military Tribunal with breaching the 1907 Hague Convention, but was acquitted. He escaped from an internment camp in 1948, hiding out on a Bavarian farm for 18 months, then spent time in Paris and Salzburg before eventually settling in Francoist Spain. In 1953 he became a military advisor to Egyptian President Mohammed Naguib and recruited a staff of former SS and Wehrmacht officers to train the Egyptian Army, staying on to advise President Gamal Abdel Nasser. He spent time in Argentina, where he acted as an advisor to President Juan Perón and as a bodyguard for Eva Perón. In 1962, Skorzeny was allegedly recruited by the Mossad and conducted operations for the agency. Contains [vi] 145 printed pages of text with monochrome maps and photographs throughout. The Private Heinrich Himmler | Letters of a Mass Murderer Katrin Himmler and Michael Wildt [Heinrich Luitpold Himmler (7 October 1900 - 23 May 1945) was Reichsführer of the Schutzstaffel (Protection Squadron; SS), and a leading member of the Nazi Party (NSDAP) of Germany. He was one of the most powerful men in Nazi Germany and a main architect of the Holocaust]. Letters Translated by Thomas S. Hansen and Abby J. Hansen. (Book #ID 97226) Published by St. Martin's Press, 175 Fifth Avenue, New York First Edition 2016. 2016. First edition hard back binding in publisher's original scarlet covers, silver title and author lettering to the spine. 8vo. 9½'' x 6¼''. After Himmler's suicide in 1945, his letters were believed lost. Then, in 2014, they were discovered in Tel Aviv and authenticated by historians. Edited by his great niece, they present a chilling glimpse into the mind of a mass murderer. Alongside banal family details and fanatical devotion to the Nazi cause, they reveal him to have been much closer to Hitler than previously thought, and remove any doubt that he was the architect of the Final Solution. The book was noted for suggesting that the Soviets had cannibalised their own comrades' corpses, and graphic depictions of torture. The translation into English is an abridged version of this book 'Im Auge des Jägers'. The first three volumes of this work appeared under the title Der Wehrmachtsscharfschütze Franz Karner, as Allerberger was initially reluctant to be named. Member of the P.B.F.A.
