Early Seventeenth century printing of Robert Barker's Geneva Bible including the Apocrypha containing books: I Esdras, Tobit, Judeth, Esther, Salomon, Ecclesasitcus, Baruch, The Song of the Three Holy Children which followed in the Third Chapter of Daniel, The History of Susanna, The History of Bel and of the Dragon and Maccabees I and II. Published nearly a decade prior to the King James Bible. In twentieth century chestnut leather binding with raised cords, blind tools to front and rear boards. 13½'' x 9'' x 4''. 1602, with the exception of the dedication leaf of the Old Testament which is to King James; lacking the title page to the Old Testament. Certain differences in the text between this and the King James Bible noted: Genesis 3 verse 7 'Breeches' for 'Aprons', Judges 7 verse 53 'Braine Pan' for 'Skull'. pp 82 is misprinted being numbered 28, the verso of the this leaf misprinted 'Nombers' for 'Numbers'. The divine name Jehovah appears twice, rather than the four times as in the King James Bible, and is substituted with the word 'Lorde' in Isaiah 12 verse 2, and Isaiah 23 verse 4. Illustrated with numerous woodcut engravings and part-page maps. Notable for its use as the base text for translators of the King James Bible, text in double column black letter and flags. First twelve leaves with paper repairs to the edges, pp 169 with repaired tear, pp 208 text not affected with small loss to bottom corner, pp 502 with candle burn to the top corner affecting the first sixteen lines of text.
