First edition hard back binding in publisher's original black and gilt decorated slate blue cloth covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine and to the front cover, top edge gilt. Large 8vo 10½'' x 7¼''. Contains [xx] + 354 printed pages of text with 20 lovely full-page single-sided hand coloured plates from original watercolour drawings by J. & G Temple, as called for. Tipped to recto of front free end page is two page advertisement by the publisher of "Works edited by W. C. A. Blew, M. A." with "Notitia Venatica "on recto and " The Noble Science" on verso, behind this is another tipped-in dedication dated 1893. Spine slightly dulled, rubbing to the corners, foxing to the end papers beyond which the text block is clean and fresh, hinges sound and tight. Member of the P.B.F.A.
