Original limp scarlet cloth covered thin boards, gilt title lettering to the front cover. Quarto 10½'' x 8''. Contains 17 full-page representative characters of the play in colour, hand drawn by crafts director, artist? Costume parts not visible on front are drawn separately on verso or opposite page for the benefit of cutters or customer makers. Burnet's craft atelier extended across the first floor of No. 22 Garrick Street and to various other locations in London, including 198 Regent Street. B. Burnet was a top-flight supplier of scenery and costumes, amateur theatricals, tableaux, court suits and uniforms etc. to all the main Theatres. They trace back to the 1850's when Richard Burnet, a draper and engineer (founder of Devonport Mechanics Institute) moved to Covent Garden - initially as Boyd Burnet, Drapers. Their most recent mention at No. 22 Garrick Street dates to the mid 1960's. They went into liquidation in 1969 just before the 1970's economic slump. This unique item carries their in-house library number 22. Member of the P.B.F.A.
