Dilks, David [Edited by]. Sir Alexander Montagu George Cadogan OM GCMG KCB (25 November 1884 - 9 July 1968) was a British diplomat and civil servant. He was Permanent Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs from 1938 to 1946. His long tenure of the Permanent Secretary's office makes him one of the central figures of British policy before and during the Second World War. [Squadron Leader John Eric Tipton DFC* (1918-2018) British officer served as a navigator with 40 Squadron, RAF in Great Britain and Malta, 1941-1942; served with 109 Squadron, Pathfinder Force, RAF in Great Britain, 1943-1944; served as Oboe (British aerial blind bombing system in World War II, based on radio transponder technology), ground controller in Netherlands, 1944-1

Sir Alexander Cadogan was one of the most outstanding civil servants Britain has ever known. He kept a diary from 1933 until the year of his death, 1968, at the age of eighty-three. This volume concentrates on the crucial years from 1938 to 1945. Contains xvi., 881 printed pages of text with monochrome photographs throughout. Fine condition book in Very Good condition dust wrapper with a hint of sun fading down the spine, not price clipped, probably never opened. From the private library of John Tipton and SIGNED by him, along with his personal address, label to the front free end paper 'John Tipton'. John Tipton joined 109 Squadron in June 1943 and went on to complete 70 operations with the squadron through to 1945.
