Nurse Matilda (Double Signed) Brand, Christianna [Christianna Brand (17 December 1907 - 11 March 1988) She was the cousin of the illustrator Edward Ardizzone]. Illustrated by Edward Jeffrey Irving Ardizzone, CBE RA (16 October 1900 - 8 November 1979), who sometimes signed his work "DIZ", was a British painter, printmaker and war artist, and the author and illustrator of books, many of them for children. First edition hard back binding in publisher's original dark green cloth with elaborate gilt design of Nurse Matilda and gilt lettering to the front cover and the spine, scarlet lining papers, page marker, page edges dyed red. 12mo. 6¼'' x 4¼''. Contains 128 pp with numerous monochrome illustrations throughout. Very Good condition book in Very Good condition dust wrapper with a little sun fading of the colours down the spine, small rubs to the tips, not price clipped, 12/6. Dust wrapper protected.
