A Discourse Delivered at the Drum Head, on the Fort, Margate, October 19, 1803, the day of the General Fast, Before the Volunteers, Commanded The Right Hon. William Pitt; and also Before the Ministers and Members of the Different Denominations of Protestant Dissenters, who form The East Kent Association, at Folkstone [sic], October 26, and then Addressed to The Volunteers of London and Southwark, Assembled with the Author's own Congregation in Carter Lane, near London Bridge, November 13, 1803.

John Rippon (29 April 1751 - 17 December 1836) was an English Baptist minister. In 1787 he published an important hymnal, A Selection of Hymns from the Best Authors, Intended to Be an Appendix to Dr. Watts' Psalms and Hymns, commonly known as Rippon's Selection, which was very successful, and was reprinted 27 times in over 200,000 copies. Many hymns originally published in Rippon's Selection are preserved in the Sacred Harp. [Francis Cobb, 1727-1802, was founder of the family fortunes and was followed by his son Francis jun., 1759-1831. Each was deputy-mayor Margate and the younger man took an active part in the Cinque Port defence during the French wars, 1793-1815]
