Antique Map Belgium | Netherlands (Belgiæ Inferiores de scruptio enem data cum circu jacentium regi onurn confinijs) (Book #ID 109983) circa 1610 Engraved map with original contemporary hand colouring, printed on a verge type hand laid paper removed from a book. The size of the map is 13½'' x 10'', the overall size including the mount is 15½'' x 12½''. With cartouche, compass rose and ship on the North Sea. Middle fold from binding within the book. Interestingly from our location in Kent from the 'mainland' we overlook the Isle (now in name only) of Thanet, which is clearly shown as an island and shows an indented crossing point somewhere near Richborough or Sandwich.
