Stowe's second published book, two years after Uncle Tom's Cabin. Presented as a series of letters to her friends and family during an extended tour of England, Scotland and mainland Europe. Originally published as two separate volumes in 1854, this is the combined 'author's edition' with illustrations. Contains frontispiece, (xvi), 540 pp with engraved monochrome illustrations throughout.
