First Commission Cruise Book | H.M.S. Tiger (18th March, 1959 to 31st October, 1960.) Rear Admiral Richard Everley Washbourn CB DSO OBE (14 February 1910 - 8 August 1988) was a senior officer of the Royal Navy and the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) from the 1940s to the 1960s. (Able Seaman Goodrige) (Book #ID 114455) Published by 1961. 1961. Publisher's original wire stitched light cream card wrap covers (soft back). 8vo. 8'' x 6½''. The early part of Tiger's first commission was spent, under Captain R. E. Washbourn, on trials of her new armament. After workup, now under Captain R. Hutchins, Tiger went on a round of autumn flag-showing visits to Gdynia, Stockholm, Kiel and Antwerp. At the end of 1959 she deployed to the Mediterranean for a year as the flagship of the Mediterranean Fleet. Contains 44 pp with archive monochrome photographs throughout, one full-page cartoon (and cover illustration) by Able Seaman Goodrige. In Very Good clean condition, no dust wrapper as issued.
