Very Good condition book in Very Good condition period art work dust wrapper with rubs to the spine ends, finger nail dent to the front gutter. Re-backed hard back binding retaining the publisher's original illustrated scarlet cloth covers, oxidised gilt title lettering and vignette of a boy and an elf to the spine, gilt and black line illustration of a King on horse back with a castle in the distance to the upper panel. Quarto. 9½'' x 7''. Contains [xii] 259 [iv] printed pages of text with 107 monochrome illustrations throughout. A small piece of cloth re-laid to the spine when the book was re-sewn and re-cased, sadly page 47-48 is missing, pages 45, 49, 99-102 have chips to the page margins and do not affect the text or illustrations, a little foxing to the end papers.
