The Shop Girl Souvenir Presented at the Gaiety Theatre, Strand, London on Monday November 25th 1895 with George Edwardes' Compliments [11 Solio-chrome Colour Photographs in Portfolio] H. J. W. Dam, George Edwardes, Ivan Caryll, Seymour Hicks, George Grossmith, Ada Reeve [After Photographs by Alfred Ellis] (Book #ID 76467) Published by Waterlow and Sons, London 1895. Publisher's original white silk water marked folder with gilt illustration and lettering to the front cover. The folder contains portraits of the show's characters in coloured solio-chrome plates in full stage costume. Title page with portraits of the show's writer, H. J. W. Dam, the producer, George Edwardes, and the composer of the music, Ivan Caryll. Folio loose in folder 13½'' x 10¼'' which contains 11 plates plus the title page plate. The Solio-chrome process was carried out by by Waterlow and Sons of London, with the negative photographs taken by Alfred Ellis. Burnet's craft atelier extended across the first floor of No. 22 Garrick Street and to various other locations in London, including 198 Regent Street. B. Burnet was a top-flight supplier of scenery and costumes, amateur theatricals, tableaux, court suits and uniforms etc. to all the main Theatres. They trace back to the 1850's when Richard Burnet, a draper and engineer (founder of Devonport Mechanics Institute) moved to Covent Garden - initially as Boyd Burnet, Drapers. Their most recent mention at No. 22 Garrick Street dates to the mid 1960's. They went into liquidation in 1969 just before the 1970's economic slump.
