Publisher's original plain brown thick card wrap covers (soft back) printed in black and red to the front cover. 4to. 11½'' x 8½''. The Exeter Diocesan Architectural Society was established in 1841 to report on the fabric of Devon's churches and to approve designs for new churches. Many leading West Country architects belonged to the Society in the 19th century, including most of the leading architects engaged in Victorian church restoration. Over the years these scrapbooks included unique architectural records of buildings that the Society's members considered significant; comprising drawings of medieval churches, stained-glass windows and other monuments. Contains 75 pp followed by 7 full-page single-sided monochrome plates, and most unusually 5 full-page colour plates, one double height folding stained-glass window of St. Andrew from St. Michael's Doddiscombleigh. Chipping of the card to the spine ends, else in Very Good condition, scarce. Member of the P.B.F.A.
