First edition hard back binding in publisher's original pea green cloth covers, gilt title and author lettering to the spine and to the front cover, untrimmed edges, top edge stained green. Quarto 10'' x 8''. Contains [xx] 249 printed pages of text which include 24 colour plates and 22 monochrome illustrations throughout, printed on heavy laid paper. This volume traces the development of architecture in general by showing the evolution of the bridge. Spine very slightly faded and in Very Good clean condition, no dust wrapper.
