Uniform matching first edition hard back binding in publisher's original plain brown paper covered boards, paper title and author lettering labels to the spines, all page edges untrimmed. 4to 11½'' x 9''. Volume I [xii] + xlviii + 366 pages; Volume II, [viii] + 390 pages. Illustrated with 18 copper engraved plates, 8 of which are folding. From the private library of Sir Thomas Maryon Wilson Bart, with his armorial coat of arms bookplate inside each volume. Scattered foxing to the end papers, small tear to the bottom of the title page of volume II, the front hinge to volume I has started to pull away, corners rubbed and turned-in, chipping of the paper covering the spines. The subscribers list accounts for 203 copies, so it is probable that no more than 250 copies were printed. Typed letter, dated 1966, tipped-in opposite the title page to volume I, concerning 'Anglo Saxon England and the Norman Conquest' by H. R. Lyon. Member of the P.B.F.A.
