Contains tissue-guarded frontispiece, (xx), 420 pp with numerous monochrome illustrations and photographs throughout. In Very Good condition, no dust wrapper. Four page letter from the author's private residence on his letter-headed paper 'Fairwarp, Sussex' which is duplicated to the foot of the author's preface. Dear W. Edwards, We are sending you herewith a copy of my father's book, because we are quite sure that had he still been with us it is just what he would have delighted to do. You have been such a kind friend to us all and for so many years and I don't think we have ever even tried to say 'thank you' properly. Nevertheless, we hope you know what we feel and that our silence is of the ''non sonus'' variety. You were never kinder than the day in September when you hurried down to us. I do not know if you know how peculiarly painful that day and its duties were, but I do say your presence and friendship helped us far more thank you know. Beita joius in love.
