Turgenev, Ivan S. [Ivan S. Turgenev 1818-1883] Drawings by I. Astapov [Member of Artists of the USSR and Honoured Art Worker of the RSFSR]. In 1929 he graduated from the art studio professor Kardovsky in Moscow. Around 1931 he lived and worked in Leningrad. During the Great Patriotic War he became one of the organisers and authors of 'Fighting Pencil'. In the post war years he illustrated the works of classical Russian and Soviet literature. His works are in the Tretyakov Gallery, timing and other museums. In 1971 he published a monograph on the work I. S. Astapova | Design by I. Fomina
