First edition hard back binding in publisher's original deep burgundy cloth covered boards, blocked and lettered gilt back, the front board with lamé-textured gilt roundel depicting one of the cake borders illustrated within the book. 4to. 12½'' x 9¼''. Cake decorating and embellishments were handed down from generation to generation since the beginning of cake decorating. There have been many cake design artist throughout Europe, adding their own flair and styles to English over piping techniques. The Lambeth Method became popular when Joseph Lambeth visited from the United States and was a constant competitor and successful award winner at the International Food and Confectionery Exposition of London, and Provinces for a period of 12 years. He won several Gold and Silver medals, diplomas and awards. Contains (iii advertisements), red and black printed title, photographic portrait of the author, (xv), 308 pp + viii pp illustrated period advertisements, 27 full-page colour plates on 20, many monochrome photographs throughout, loosely inserted folded cake decorating template, which is often missing. Just a little rubbing to the spine ends, else in Very Good clean condition and has not been used in the kitchen.
