Folding colour frontispiece, (vii), 840 pp with over 100 monochrome illustrations throughout, plus 10 (as called for tissue-guarded colour plates (7 are only one colour tinted). Lacking front free end paper, age tanning to the page margins, note to the last leaf referring ''With the issue of this volume, the publication of 'BOYS', in a separate form, will cease; the copyright having been purchased by the proprietors of the well-known 'BOY'S OWN PAPER', who propose to incorporate it, to the strengthening and improvement of both, with their most successful periodical.''
