Piano Transcription Billy Mayerl Piano Sheet Music: Love Me Forever

Mayerl, Billy [Joseph William Mayerl May 31st 1902 - March 25th 1959] Victor Schertzinger and As Sung by Grace Moore

(Book #ID 55004)

Published by The Stirling Music Publishing Co. Ltd., 49-50 New Bond Street, London 1935. London 1935/

Publisher's original paper covers with Billy Mayerl and Grace Moore to the front cover. 12'' x 9½''. Contains 6 printed pages of musical score for the piano. Born in 1902 on London's West End and by the age of 7 he was studying at the Trinity College of Music. By the time Mayerl was 20 he was resident pianist for a Southampton Hotel. It was there that British bandleader and saxophonist Bert Ralton first heard him, and instantly sought to hire him for his Havana Band at London's Savoy Hotel. From 1923 to 1926 Mayerl was a featured soloist with the band in the earliest years of the BBC. In 1926 Mayerl left the Havana band to pursue a solo career in recording and composition. While maintaining a schedule with the BBC, he also toured the UK performing in venues of all sizes, taking time off to create increasingly complex syncopation's for publication. More importantly, he started publishing not just his own works, but some transcriptions of other composer's pieces he had recorded. In the 1930s, Mayerl established a correspondence course 'The Billy Mayerl Club Magazine' for instruction in piano and composition. He spent the war primarily in London, although publishing very little during this time. Once peace had been re-established, Billy renewed his ties with radio. He also took his music to USA and Australasia. A heavy smoker, Billy finally died from a heart attack in 1959 at the tender age of 57. His post-war pieces have a mellow and classical line with a more melancholic composition, along with his unique sound of tenth's and fourth's, albeit wound around with more sophistication, one cannot help wondering what he would have written had he lived into the 1970s. Internally repaired tear to the outer cover and in Very Good clean condition. We currently hold in stock 65 other titles by Billy Mayerl. Member of the P.B.F.A.

Sir John Simon, John Moore-Brabazon, Professor C. E. Inglis [Court of Inquiry]

(Book #ID 87239)

October 1930. 1930.

Archive of 11 large rough proof photographs of the R101 airship disaster, the photographs measure 12'' x 10'' [6] and 10'' x 8'' [5]. A total of 46 of the 54 passengers and crew were killed immediately. Rigger's S. Church and W. G. Radcliffe survived the crash but later died in hospital in Beauvais, bringing the total of dead to 48. The bodies were returned to England and on Friday 10 October a memorial service took place at St Paul's Cathedral while the bodies lay in state in Westminster Hall at the Palace of Westminster. Nearly 90,000 people queued to pay their respects: at one time the queue was half a mile long, and the hall was kept open until 12:35 am to admit them all. The following day a funeral procession transferred the bodies to Euston station through streets crowded with mourners: the bodies were then taken to Cardington village for burial in a common grave in the cemetery of St Mary's church. A monument was later erected, and the scorched Royal Air Force Ensign which R101 had flown on its tail is on display, along with a memorial tablet, in the church's nave. On 27 November 2014, 84 years after the disaster, Baroness Smith of Basildon, together with members of the Airship Heritage Trust, unveiled a memorial plaque to the R101 in St Stephens Hall in the Palace of Westminster.
